Dental Restorations at Center for Holistic Dentistry, Los Angeles

Dental restorations before after image

At Center for Holistic Dentistry, we provide care that seeks to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible. If you require repair of a cavity or other damage, or you wish to have old amalgam fillings safely removed and replaced with metal-free restorations, you can feel comfortable knowing that we will recommend treatment that will give you long-lasting results without compromising your natural oral structures.

Dental restorations chosen by Dr. Altman and Dr. Dalwani are metal-free. They look very natural and also live in harmony within the body. This is the epitome of biocompatibility, which is important to us as we help you maintain a healthy mouth.

Composite fillings

Dr. Altman and Dr. Dalwani prefer composite fillings because they do not stand out in the smile, and they are comparable to amalgam in terms of strength. The conservative treatment involves removing damaged structure and inserting BPA-free composite. The filling is hardened with a curing light before it is trimmed and polished to look just like your natural tooth.

Composite fillings are a cost-effective method of repairing small cavities. With minimal alteration of natural structure, this conservative procedure restores appearance and functionality.

Porcelain inlays and onlays

Dr. Dalwani performs restorative care using the most conservative method available. Often, teeth that would otherwise be capped with a dental crown can be repaired with an inlay or onlay.

Inlays and onlays are also referred to as porcelain fillings and partial crowns. Made from high quality ceramic, these restorations are ideal for more extensive repair such as the replacement of a large amalgam filling. Because porcelain is non-porous, an inlay or onlay will retain its color. The material also causes minimal wear to adjacent teeth, and has the durability to last.

Porcelain crowns

At the Holistic Dental Center in Los Angeles, we use dental crowns when more conservative treatments like inlays or onlays are not capable of restoring a damaged tooth. A dental crown covers all surfaces of a tooth, down to the gum line. The process involves modifying the shape and size of the natural tooth in order to accommodate the crown. Once the restoration is bonded into place, the tooth is protected against further damage that may occur when biting or chewing.

We use porcelain, zirconia, and e.max crowns, all of which are metal-free and biocompatible.

Bridges

Although many people who need tooth replacement choose to restore appearance and functionality with dental implant treatment, we understand that there are instances in which a dental bridge may be preferable. This prosthetic can be made with zirconia and porcelain rather than metal, improving biocompatibility and appearance.
