Important Facts to know about The Santa Monica Center of Cosmetic and Holistic Dentistry -Dr. Dalwani believes the porcelain veneers can do wonders for a person's appearance. Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain or plastic cemented over the front of your teeth to change their color or shape. Veneers are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. Little or no anesthesia is needed. Veneers have a longer life expectancy and color stability than bonding, and highly resist permanent staining from coffee, tea, or even cigarette smoking. -Dr. Dalwani and her entire staff here at The Santa Monica Center of Cosmetic and Family Dentistry are eager to enhance your beautiful smile with our amazing teeth whitening techniques. Professional whitening performed by our office is considered to be the most effective and safest method; done properly, tooth whitening can last as long as five years. Over-the-counter whitening systems are somewhat effective as long as they are monitored and directions followed closely.
Tooth bonding gives the patient an affordalbe way to improve the condition of their teeth. Tooth bonding allows patients to close gaps, fix chips or breaks, cover discoloration, and alter the shape and size of teeth through an application of composite material that is specially picked for your body's ultimate compatibility to offer the most natural looking and feeling result possible.
Crowns are synthetic caps that are used to restore a tooth's function and appearance following a restorative procedure such as a root canal or when decay in a tooth hasbecome so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed. Here at Santa Monica Cosmetic Dentistry we offer two different options when it comes to porcelain crowns, a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown or a full crown made out of pure porcelain.

White Fillings, or properly named "composite fillings" are a specialty of ours here at the Santa Monica Center of Cosmetic and Family Dentistry. In the past silver amalgams or "mercury fillings" have served as fillings for any type tooth decay. Over the years research has found that mercury fillings are very toxic for the body as well as very uncomfortable as opposed to composite fillings. Composite fillings require a lot less removal of the tooth structure, they do not administer any toxic chemicals into the body, as well as do not detract for your beautiful smile. -For the safe oxygen removal of amalgam fillings, Dr. Dalwani will be using specially developed protocols to minimize your risk of exposure to any mercury. We will offer you a mask to place over your nose to allow you to breath in oxygen and place a vinyl sheet (rubber dam) on the teeth we are treating to isolate them from the rest of your mouth. A high speed suction will be used to suction off debris generated by the old fillings, and another suction will pull away the vapor generated to filter the mercury and other toxins out of the air. Disposable surgical drapes will be placed over your body to avoid contamination of your skin and clothing. -Anyone that has had amalgam fillings has put their body at risk for heavy metal toxicity. Heavy metal toxicity is an excessive build-up of metals in the body. Oftentimes, the vague symptoms produced by heavy metal toxicity are mistakenly misdiagnosed as incurable chronic conditions. We work very closely with our Holistic M.D, Dr. Michael Galitzer to provide you with the best overall care for your entire body. Dr. Galitzer, who is conveniently located directly across the hall from our office, will assist you the best possible way with any detoxification and chelation that may be needed to help rid your body of any heavy metals upon the removal of amalgam fillings.
